Just re-powered a 2003 Triton TR20 with the new Yamaha 225 SHO.
We removed a 2003 Evinrude 200 H.O.
Best the boat ran with the Evinrude was 71.9 on GPS, Yamaha SHO 225 ran 79.3, just thirty mins out of the second hour of the break in. The hole shot was very impressive, twice as fast as the Evinrude, and that is with the Yamaha turning a Non-Vented 27 pitch prop.
If this engine holds together, It will be everything Yamaha said it is. Close in weight with the Evinrude, and we removed the 2 gallon oil tank out of the boat.
This was the fasted 20' boat powered with a 225 that I have ever driven, and I have been behind the wheel of many bass boats. I can't wait for the opportunity to run the 250 on a fast hull.
Just thought you would want to know.

It will be at the Thursday night tournament. You might want to beat it out of the hole.

Calling all 20' bass boats powered by Mercury or Evinrude 225's. I would love a race with similar rigs, don't worry, I will give you time to stop by the store to get some two stroke oil.

That's the same way they use to talk about the Ficht technology and the Etec. You better make sure that things got plenty of warranty. |

I'm more scared of what goes on in the silver bullet..
Just do like Sean does, grab BUMMER by the ankles, turn BUMMER upside down....shove my head under the water, and get the report about whats happening under the water.....

Man usually just sit back and watch the show, but I have seen bummer's name a good bit in tournaments this year...think you should be worried about what goes on in that boat....small aluminum boat with a small motor....and he's taken some 1st's, 2nd's, 3rd's, 4th's and several big bass.......haven't seen your name on any tournament reports.
Just leave the boy alone and let him keep on doing what he's been doing....keep it going bummer.....

Is that record over a ten year span?

All bull aside, I am a guy that said "I'll never have a four stroke on a bassboat, they will never build one that has the punch of a two stroke"....but after driving this one, they have, and surpassed it. I have been in the marine industry for 7 years, seen a great amount of blown up two strokes, but honestly can't remember the first blown four stroke. I know they are out there, but the numbers are small. Maybe this is just because they don't put many four strokes on bass boats, but there sure are a great many on other rigs, and ran just as hard, more idle time for the off shore guys, and most pleasure boaters hold the coals to them.

Given the SHO has posted some great holeshot and midrange numbers.....I guess they shipped you the ONE that might outrun a ProXS on top end.

Don't know if it will outrun it, but I would love the chance to try, especially using less fuel and no oil
