How bout that South Carolina defense baby!!! Those guys are fast and aggressive and mean. I expect us to have a really good season and finish the season 10-3 (including the bowl game) with losses to alabama, florida, and either georgia or mississippi. But this defense has a chance to be VERY special!!

| man you guys are pumped for a 4 point over a mediocre at best acc school, i hope spurrier got some spare qb's laying somewhere bc the rest of the sec schools are probly playing 2nd team defense when they play usc now. |

Brooks is right, they have a very good defense. But their offense is going to have to step it up a WHOLE bunch if they're going to make the 10-3 record he predicts.

Been watchin Gamecock fans a long time. Got to hand it to them-most optimistic bunch I've ever seen. I'm a Clemson fan, I'll admit, but that was a pretty weak looking gamecock team last night. I don't think they can pull off 21 losses in a row like Lou Holtz did when he was there (was that awesome or what?) but there offense was pretty sad. Garcia would be great to have on your team in a pickup game. I hear his favorite play to call is "everybody go long, you big guys block" Now that's what I call a field general.
Now if they could figure a way to schedule N. C. State 13 times in a season..they may pull off 10-3. When the Cocks play a team that has a defense...their defense will be on the field all night. N. C. State receiver let that ball pass betwee his hands in the end zone late in the game-he is who the Gamecocks need to be praising this morning. Losses 2 yrs in a row to Vanderbilt and 25 losses out of the last 30 to Clemson...a little early to put those two games in the win column.

the thing is that everybody is makin a big deal about us having a new starter with little experience.. Well so does every other SEC team not named Florida or Mississippi. And NC State is not a mediocre team at best. Check some college sites and see that some pundits are picking them to win their division and dont forget they have the REIGNING ACC offensive player of the year, have 4 seniors on a really good d-line, and returned 16 of 22 starters (excluding punters and kickers). I know the offense has to step up but that defense will guarantee us atleast 7 wins and the offense will pick it up later on.. this was just the 1st game.. we got to many playmakers in the backfield and receiving corps. but the sure wins will be florida atlantic, sc state, kentucky, tennessee, vandy and arkansas. That right there is already 7 wins. The toss ups are georgia, mississippi, alabama, and clemson. Florida will crush us like everybody else. And 10-3 is a stretch (made that prediction after being pumped up from last night).. 8-5 (5-3) sounds more realistic

| i'm saying 8-5 or 7-6, acc's been weak for a long time, the first couple games the defense always plays better then the offense's, but they need to pick it up before they get deep into the sec, lot of teams with stacked defenses coming back this year i.e.- alabama, florida, ole miss, lsu, even georgia. |

oh i agree 100% dink.. sucks we gotta play in the toughest conference by far. We'd be ACC champs if we were in the ACC!

| Garcia sucks! The Cock defense will help them win 4-5 games this year but I don't expect much more than that. Garcia didn't impress me much and as we all saw, he was very nervous in the pocket. For an offensive Guru, Spurrier hasn't shown much while at SC! |

 Just a reminder for you Gamecock faithfuls. For the record! Yall could beat Clemson 27 years straight and still not have more wins. Not to mention Clemson has 5 ACC titles and a National Championship.  Gamecocks on the other hand: Since 1892 have only had 10 seasons with 7 wins, 6 seasons with 6 wins, you had a 9 win season in 2001 and 10 wins 1 time in 1984. I will give credit where it's due, your the only team that can go 0-11 and 1-10 and still pack the stadium.  Remember don't mess with the Howard Rock!!

| Whew you guys are tough on the Gamecock...but no doubt if we were in the ACC we would win more games...I've never said we were good because we were in the SEC...just saying it's a hard life...look at what we're up against this year...Bama, Ga, Miss and Fl..and next year we have Bama again and after taht I hope we don't get LSU again...the only difference between USC and Clemson is Clemson wins the games nowadays...other than that we have about the same record every year... |

But yet were the better baseball team, usually always have a better basketball, soccer, volleyball, tennis, track and field, etc. Yall are better in one area and thats the only argument yall have. Yall haven't beat us in a bowl game, ncaa tourney or nuttin. Last time I checked all yall had to was beat us once in the 2002 CWS and yall couldnt do it. So congrats that out of like 7 or 8 sports yall have the upper hand in only 1. Feel proud. But yet we have olympic champions and we've been putting more quality players in the league as well. And dont let that picture deceive you all.. Watch a replay of that game and you'll see that we kicked yalls azz in the fight.
